Affectionately known as "Les Léopards" (The Leopards), the Congo DR national team is a historic powerhouse of African football with a legacy dating back to their 1974 World Cup debut as Zaire. Representing a nation with immense natural talent and a vibrant footballing identity, they have twice been crowned champions of the Africa Cup of Nations (1968 and 1974). After a 52-year absence from the world stage, the team made history, March 31, 2026, by defeating Jamaica 1–0 in a dramatic intercontinental playoff to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
