Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth, despite not being direct rivals in their frequent match-ups, offer a fascinating contrast in their play styles. However, in the return leg less than a year later, Chelsea beat Bournemouth 4-1 at the Vitality Stadium. Despite this huge win, Chelsea missed the chance to defend its title, as Leicester City made history by winning the Premier League title against all odds.
Chelsea Football Club then won four games consecutively against the Cherries before ending that run with a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge in January 2018. Both teams have played 20 games in all competitions, with Chelsea holding all the cards with 13 wins and two draws. Bournemouth has only won five games, including back-to-back wins over Chelsea in 2019.
Despite their rivalry, both teams have a rich history of players who have turned out for both clubs. Notable names include Gary Cahill, who played a crucial role in Chelsea's defensive line before joining Bournemouth, and Asmir Begovic, a key goalkeeper for both teams. Michael Duberry, Ryan Bertrand, and Dominik Solanke have also made significant contributions to both clubs, adding to their shared history.
